Instead of hiding them offshore & in country areas, for convenience and saving on transmission infrastructure costs windmills should be built closer to the major population centres.
On Sydney’s north shore for instance there are vast tracts of suitable unused locations such as North Head, Mosman to Bradley’s Head, Balgowlah Heights, Curl Curl to Dee Why, Long Reef to Warriewood, then through to Barrenjoey to help the poor people of Palm Beach fight climate change. Replacing the useless pine trees with windmills along all the beaches will be relatively simple.
Instead of pushing for no windfarms we should be positive and help the government find the best spots.
After all, we should not let country people, animals, birds, and sea life selfishly enjoy all the benefits of this cheap reliable power source.
Help save the planet by suggesting perfect spots for windmills near where you live to our political leaders.
And as an added benefit they are kind of beautiful in an abstract post industrial civilisation kind of way.
